Leaders Have Guts (and may be nuts)

It takes moxie and often what appears to be nut­ti­ness to stand out from the crowd and stay there. We may stick our necks out now and then, but many of us with­draw at the sting of crit­i­cism or more sub­tle social cues. Many of us may won­der if we really are nuts in the absence of fol­low­ers. “It’s lonely at the top” is true, but it’s also lonely to be the first to exe­cute a new idea.

If we always fol­low what is known and safe, how will we grow and change? If we always do things the “way we’ve always done” them, where will we be in five to ten years? In six months?
